What a great list! Have you read David Copperfield by Dickens? That’s my favorite one of his. Also, Invisible Man by Ellison remains one of the books I will never forget reading for the first time.
ooh amazing project. Very solid list. You've read Tolstoy right? I feel like you mentioned that on X. That and Pride and Prejudice are usually my top recs. I'd also say Embers by Sandor Marai is an extraoridinary more obscure classic that's incredily rich and rewarding, and mainly about a deep friendship over many years
Adding Embers! Yes I've had a mild Tolstoy obsession the last few years, and read all Austen's books every couple of years (I think that is what I will dive into after this project)
CS Lewis space Trilogy, Persuasion by Jane Austen
Love all of those!
This Day, by Wendell Berry

I tried it but gave up! I did read Invisible Man as a teen -- and one of my girls just read it too, which was neat for me.
Til We Have Faces (Lewis) and Babette’s Feast (Dinesen) are two books that I loved!
adding them to the list!

Have you read “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes? That’s one I think everyone should read!
No! I will add that to my list :)
